WANDRD Prvke Review

Are you looking for the perfect travel camera bag? Then look no further! There are lots of different camera bags on the market and it can be hard to find the right option but after 2 years of experience with my WANDRD PRVKE backpack I can confidently say that this is the best bag on the market for travel and photography.

A couple of years ago I decided it was time to invest in a good camera as we were about to do a lot of travelling and I got myself a Nikon D5600. But this meant I also needed a good backpack to keep it safe and protected while we were on the road. I spent weeks researching all types of bags and lost multiple hours in forum holes reading hundreds of reviews on a variety of different backpacks. After whittling down the options I finally arrived at WANDRD and more specifically the PRVKE Series, which was the stand-out winner for what I was looking for. It comes in a 21 or 31 litre size option and has three colours to choose from - black, green, blue.

I’ve now had this backpack for a little over two years and I’m still raving about it. It really is the best bag I’ve ever owned and not only did it meet all of my requirements but it excelled them. The quality of this bag is on another level and still looks brand new! This thing has travelled all over the world with me. I’ve taken it to beaches, up mountains, into jungles, on rivers, to waterfalls, through rice paddies, in cities, you name it and it’s been there. It’s been covered in salt, sand, suncream and sweat. It’s been in extreme heat, unbearable humidity, through torrential downpours and it’s even been pissed on by a dog haha. It’s withheld everything that’s been thrown at it and still it looks perfect!

WHO ARE WANDRD

WANDRD was started by two brothers who weren’t satisfied or happy with what was on offer for them. What particularly drew me to this brand is that they are first and foremost passionate travellers, photographers, and creators and these passions run strongly through the veins of their business. Their mission is to:

“Inspire people to get out and live passionately; exploring, creating, and living life in the moment. We just happen to do that by creating the world’s best gear”.

On top of all this they create lifelong products that are actually meant for purpose rather than just being about style (Although they are damn stylish too)! They have a few different options of bags depending on your needs including the PRVKE Series, the DUO Daypack, the HEXAD Duffel Backpack and the VEER Packable Bag as well as other accessories for both travel and photography.

Backpack Specifications

I had high standards for what I was looking for and I can confidently say that this backpack ticks all the boxes, including:

Style

This is a backpack that you can wear everyday and look stylish in any situation. It’s a one-bag-fit-all. I’ve worn mine to work, on a plane, on a city break, to the beach and hiked up a mountain with it and it always looked good. I was particularly drawn to the design as I wanted something that didn’t look like a camera bag. This was especially important as I’d be using it a lot whilst travelling. I was looking more for a bag that had the aesthetics of an everyday lifestyle bag but that had all the functionality of a professional camera bag. The PRVKE definitely meets this criteria.

Size and Comfort

There’s nothing worse than a bulky bag that’s uncomfortable to wear and loses its shape when you fill it. The PRVKE 21 litre is back-friendly and incredibly comfortable to wear for long periods as it has padded shoulder strap support and foam back panels that give you a nice little hug while you wear it. It’s also really breathable so it won’t leave your back too sweaty. What’s more, it has a removable waist belt to give you extra support if needed. I can comfortably wear mine all day without any discomfort. The size is great as a day bag but it’s also something you could use as a weekend bag for a short trip somewhere as it can comfortably fit all of your camera gear but still leave space for a couple of days’ worth of clothes. If you’re looking for something a little bigger then the larger PRVKE 31 litre might be the perfect option for you.

Storage

The bag can comfortably fit one DSLR or Mirrorless camera, three lenses of various sizes, a DJI Mavic Air, a gorilla tripod, an extendable tripod, a 13 inch MacBook Air, a GoPro HERO8 and accessories. It also has a variety of pockets to keep safe all of the little essential bits that come with being a photographer like spare batteries, SD cards, lens cloths and lens filters. It also has easily accessible pockets for your keys, wallet, phone and passport. And on top of all of this, it has enough space for a weekend’s worth of cloths and toiletries. There are two options of where to put your tripod, it can either be strapped to the bottom or secured in the expandable water bottle pocket on the side. Another great selling point for me was that it’s a roll-top, which allows you to add more storage to the backpack if needed. This has come in really handy when I’ve bought a couple of souvenirs out and about on our travels.

Durability

I’ve only ever bought cheap backpacks in the past that always end up in the bin due to unsalvageable breaks so having a durable bag was really important. I needed something that could get bashed up but still come out looking good. I also needed it to be waterproof in case I got caught out in the rain somewhere. I was really looking for a great quality bag that would last me a long time. The WANDRD PVRKE is an incredibly durable and resilient backpack as it’s made from 1680d ballistic nylon which is both extremely tough and also waterproof and scratch proof.

Usability

One of the things I love about this backpack is how well thought-out the usability and functionality is. There has been real care taken in the design to make it as user friendly as possible and this made it a deal-breaker for me. There’s nothing more annoying then having an un-user-friendly bag, especially if it’s something you use all the time. I needed something that I could easily access any part of at all times. Whether I wanted to take out the camera or take out my toothbrush, I didn’t want to spend all my time rummaging around at the bottom of the bag trying to find things. I also needed it to be very airport friendly so I could take out everything I needed to go through the security checks with ease. I am one of those people who gets highly flustered at airport security when I have to do too many things at once. As we do a lot of travelling it was vital I had something that would give me peace of mind at the airport without causing me to go in a sweaty panic haha.

The PRVKE is divided into several handy compartments and all with their own access points, which makes getting anything out of your bag easy breezy. The main compartment fits most of your essentials as well as the camera cube which slots in nicely at the bottom of the bag. There’s a separate zipped compartment in the back panel with a padded laptop and tablet sleeve. Lastly there are an array of pockets throughout the backpack that will keep your belonging organised and safe. I feel like I find a new pocket every week on this thing!

Price

If you’re like me and you’ve never spent more than £50 on a piece of luggage before then it can be hard to part ways with your cash on a backpack. But if I was willing to buy all this fancy equipment like a camera, lenses, laptop and GoPro then it was about time to invest in something that would keep them all safe, secure and protected. The PRVKE is a definite worthy investment as I’m pretty sure I’ll never need to buy another bag ever again. The price for the 21 litre standard option is £138.98 GBP and you can check prices for all other options including the bundles and 31 litre here. The price is so good considering how amazing the quality is and whats more WANDRD offer 3 x interest free payments, which makes the buying process that even more easy. To top it off they also offer a no questions asked, lifetime guarantee!

WANDRD BUNDLE OPTIONS

There’s a couple of pricing packages you can buy depending on what you need, which are as follows:

Bag Only - No accessories included

Photography Bundle - Includes a camera cube, accessory straps, waist straps and rainfly

Pro Photography Bundle - Pro camera cube, accessory straps, waist straps and rainfly

The difference between the bundles is the size of the camera cube. The pro cube will fill the majority of the bag whilst the other cube will fill half of the bag. These options will entirely depend on whether you need to fill your whole backpack with camera gear or not. I decided on the PRVKE 21 litre in black with the Photography Bundle as this totally met all my needs- being able to hold all our equipment as well as some extras.
